Legendary Entertainer to Serve as Spokesperson for Care Level Management,
the First Company Providing
24-Hour Access to Doctor House Calls via the Personal Visiting Physician(TM)
in Multiple States
Company Donates $100,000 to Ms. Andrews' Favorite Charities Including Operation
USA, Foundation for
Hereditary Diseases, The Bay Street Theater and Pasadena Playhouse
Personal Visiting Physicians are available to see patients in their own homes anytime night or day to provide the kind of ongoing and preventative treatment necessary to help avoid emergency room and hospital visits -- the most costly form of healthcare. This model has proven to improve the quality of care for chronically ill elderly while simultaneously reducing the cost of that care.
"We are thrilled to have Ms. Andrews as a partner in our work to put the
patient first and restore adequate medical care and access to America's
chronically ill and underserved populations," said Raouf Khalil, co-founder and
chief executive officer of Care Level Management.
Recently, Ms. Andrews joined Care Level physicians in a day of house calls to meet the doctors and patients who benefit from this level of attentive care and experience the effects of this new option in care first-hand.
"When I was introduced to Care Level and its mission of bringing back doctor
house calls to America's most frail seniors, I wanted to help spread the word,"
said Ms. Andrews. "Especially for these patients and their families, having a
physician take care of them in their homes at no additional cost can seem too
good to be true -- but it is indeed true thanks to the excellent doctors of Care
Level."
As part of her contract with Care Level Management, the company is making
contributions to the following charities designated by Ms. Andrews:
-- Operation USA, the Los Angeles-based non-profit disaster relief agency, will receive $20,000. -- The Hereditary Disease Foundation will receive $20,000 to support its work in finding causes and cures for hereditary diseases such as Huntington's Chorea. -- $35,000 will be donated to The Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, New York, largely earmarked for their outreach program to at-risk children. -- $25,000 will be given to the Carrie Hamilton Theater and Outreach Program located at the Pasadena Playhouse in California. This donation is in memory of Carrie Hamilton, daughter of Julie Andrews' good friend and acclaimed actress Carol Burnett.
"I'm grateful to Care Level for making these generous contributions," Andrews said. "And I'm proud to be involved with this company and to support the care their doctors are giving to chronically ill elderly."
For more than five years, Care Level has provided the services of Personal Visiting Physicians to chronically ill beneficiaries of managed care payors. The company was recently awarded a three-year contract for a demonstration project with Medicare. For the first time, in addition to their current benefits, Medicare beneficiaries selected for this project will have 24-hour access to in-home care by a physician through the Personal Visiting Physician delivery system. Since Oct. 3, 2005, more than 15,000 qualified beneficiaries in California (statewide), San Antonio, Texas and Orlando, Florida began voluntarily enrolling in the pilot project. Care Level Management and its Personal Visiting Physician delivery system are expected to increase access and quality of care while providing substantial cost savings to Medicare.
In addition to other activities supporting Care Level, Andrews appears in a video explaining the Personal Visiting Physician doctor house call service to the selected Medicare beneficiaries. She also will lend her endorsement in brochures and other mailings.
"Ms. Andrews embodies the old fashioned values we believe are vital to the success of our Personal Visiting Physician system of care," said Henri Becker, co-founder of Care Level Management.
