Bay Street Theatre will produce a musical in late November based on a children's
book, Simeon's Gift, by Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton. The musical of the same name will have a one-week premiere at the regional
theatre in Sag Harbor, N.Y., before going on a national tour in 2008.
Andrews and Walton wrote the book; the music and lyrics are by Ian Fraser and John Bucchino, respectively, and David Krane is the music director. The show will be directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge (The Who's Tommy).
Simeon's Gift is a story of creativity, music, and the power of giving.
It was a best-seller in 2003 on The New York Times' children's list, and
was named a "best book of the year" by Child Magazine.
