LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15 Capt. Jean-Luc Picard's command chair from "
Star Trek" and a full-scale T-rex head from "
Jurassic Park" went on the auction block in California.
The two-day mega auction of Hollywood memorabilia included
the coat worn by
Julie Andrews in "
Mary Poppins" and a life-size robot from the "
Terminator" films, Britain's Telegraph reported Saturday.
Picard's
command chair alone was expected to fetch as much as $100,000, the Telegraph
reported.
The first day of the auction, which began Thursday in
Calabasas, near Los Angeles, saw some pieces of Hollywood history command far
more than their estimated price, such as a picture of Sergei Eisenstein, the
Soviet film pioneer, taken by Man Ray, the Telegraph reported. The photo sold
for $70,000 after an initial sales estimate of about $5,000.
Bidders came
from as far away as China, Japan, Germany and Brazil to attend the auction,
People reported.
